About Darin

Darin Slyman is an experienced publisher, creative director, marketer, business developer, photographer, videographer, producer and journalist with more than 15 plus years in the creative field. Darin has assisted in building several successful media companies from the ground up. 

 

One of his most notable accomplishments is when he became publisher and creative director of acclaimed LGBTQIA+ media group Vital VOICE and MAX Magazine. Darin bolstered these brands' circulations to more than 150,000+ monthly magazines distributed throughout the Midwest. He was also instrumental in growing the company's revenue to over $1.2 million annually, no small feat for a specialized Midwest media outlet.

 

Darin's managerial skills allow him to lead any size organization with confidence, having managed teams of 20 or more. Darin's many years of experience have also led him to develop relationships with celebrities like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Senator Claire McCaskill, Lady Gaga, Nelly, The Property Brothers and many more.

Focused on modernizing LGBT media, Darin committed a large portion of his career to Vital VOICE. During his time as publisher, creative director and editor in chief, Darin grew the historic LGBT media company  to a monthly circulation of 75K throughout the Midwest.

Darin developed and launched MAX Magazine to engage the millennial generation by focusing on the modern man. Along with the 25K issues distributed monthly, MAX also had a robust digital presence and event series. At its pinnacle, MAX Magazine garnered an audience of 50K people monthly.

In the past several years, Darin worked with various partners to create social media video series that showcases the best of St. Louis.

Produced in partnership with Sauce Magazine St. Louis. This series showcases the vivacious local culinary and hospitality industry of St. Louis.  

Explore St. Louis

Produced in partnership with Explore St. Louis and the St. Louis Convention and Visitor Commission. The Outlook series features the diverse and prismatic LGBTQIA culture of St. Louis.

Sip Local

Produced in partnership with Luxco Midwest liquor distribution company. The Sip Local series showcases various Luxco brands by featuring local St. Louis and Kansas City venues and bartenders. 

The Delmar Loop

Produced in partnership with The Delmar Loop Business District. This series features the vibrant food and retail culture of this fames St. Louis neighborhood.

 

Event Production

Throughout his time at Vital VOICE and MAX Magazine, Darin produced more than 200 events by bringing corporate brands, nonprofits and communities together.
